Privacy Policy — Inkwell

Inkwell does not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. Everything the app remembers stays on your device.
Who Inkwell is for
Inkwell is intended for adults 18 and older. It is a place to discover books, track your reading, and set reading goals.
What the app stores
Your shelves (Want to Read, Reading, Finished), your book ratings, your reading goals, your on-device display name and handle, and whether you've completed the welcome screens. This is saved only on your device, in the app's private storage. It never leaves your phone unless you choose to share it yourself. We cannot see it, and neither can anyone else.
What the app does NOT do
- No account or sign-in in this release
- No analytics or tracking
- No advertising and no advertising identifiers
- No access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone, or files
- No selling or sharing of personal data — because none is collected
Fonts
The app may load typefaces from Google Fonts. Like any internet request, this includes your device's IP address so the fonts can be delivered. We do not receive, log, or store that information; Google handles it under its own privacy policy.
Book information
The current release features a curated sample catalog. As live book search is added, book details are drawn from public sources such as Google Books and Open Library. Inkwell is a read-only client for that information — it never uploads information about you.
Community features
Social features — reviews, posts, and reader discussions — are not enabled in this release. When they launch, this policy will be updated first, you will be told what is shared, and shared content will be moderated to keep Inkwell book-related and safe.
Buying books
When you choose to find a book to buy, Inkwell opens your web browser to an online bookstore. Inkwell has no in-app purchases. We may earn a commission from qualifying purchases made through those links, at no extra cost to you. Those retailers have their own privacy policies.
Permissions the app requests, and why
- Internet — to load fonts and open external links, and, in future updates, live book data. The app requests no other sensitive permissions.
Optional external links
The app contains optional links — "Share Inkwell," "Leave a Review," an online bookstore, and this policy — that open your web browser or another app. Following them is entirely optional, and those destinations have their own privacy policies.
Data deletion
Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all of its data from your device. Because nothing is stored on our servers, there is nothing for us to delete.
Children
Inkwell is intended for adults and is not directed to children. It does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this same address with a new effective date.
