About the Studio
Yes, somebody lives here. 🏡
Bayou Byte Studio is a real, independent, U.S.-based app studio — founded in 2026 on decades of career systems-engineering experience keeping enterprise infrastructure running, and a long-held itch to build the small, warm, personal software we always wished existed.
The name says it all: bayou for the mood we put into everything — Spanish moss, porch lanterns, fireflies, slow evenings — and byte for the engineering underneath. Our apps look beautiful and run like production systems.
What we build
Calm, private mobile apps — and a few beautiful little games — spanning everyday tools, wellness, play, and creativity:
Driftlands
An open-world adventure across a beautiful world of endless realms — ride the Wayfinder, quest in a living town, and beware the Hunter. Live on Google Play.
Journal Spaces
A private journal with immersive themed writing spaces, voice entries, and daily prompts. Live on Google Play.
Bayou Pill Reminder
A loud, extra-large-text medication alarm made for seniors — built because our own family needed it. Live on Google Play.
Bayou Water Break
A hydration & mindfulness companion with beautiful bayou scenes and kind voices. Live on Google Play.
Bayou Feedback
A haunted instrument that watches five streams of random numbers with real statistics — when they align, the bayou responds. Live on Google Play.
The family has grown to seventeen apps and counting — including ForgeLore (a Game Master's toolkit for tabletop RPGs), Bayou Claw (a painted claw-machine arcade), Bayou Probability (real-world risk, explained), Bayou Pet Health (a warm, private pet-care companion, in closed testing), Nightveil (a dark-Victorian paranormal mystery), Bayou Rush (an endless bayou runner), Bayou Finder (clap to find your phone), plus Bayou Coins, Bayou Dreams, Bayou Fidget, AuraLens and Bayou Scratchpad. See them all →
Every app follows the same house rules: no accounts, no ads, no tracking, works offline. What you type, record, or log stays on your phone. Our privacy policies aren't boilerplate — they're short because there's genuinely nothing to disclose.
How the studio earns its keep
We keep the money side simple, boring, and transparent:
App purchases via Google Play
Our apps are free to download with optional in-app purchases (theme packs, voices, scenes, coin packs, and one optional subscription — Bayou Plus in Bayou Coins). Every payment is processed entirely by Google Play Billing — we never see, handle, or store anyone's card details.
Supporter tips via Buy Me a Coffee
Some folks just want to toss a few dollars in the tip jar to keep the porch light on. We use Buy Me a Coffee for that — a voluntary tip toward future development, not a purchase of goods, services, or subscriptions.
That's the whole business model — app purchases and tips. No data resale, no dropshipping, no crypto — just software made by hand and supported by the people who enjoy it.
