Privacy Policy — Bayou AuraLens

Bayou AuraLens does not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. Your photos, your sensor readings, and your aura videos are created and kept entirely on your device.
Your photos stay on your phone
When you capture an aura, the app takes a photo with your camera and processes it on your device: the person outline is detected with on-device machine learning (Google ML Kit selfie segmentation, running locally), the aura is rendered locally, and the temporary photo file is deleted immediately after processing. No photo, video, or image data is ever uploaded anywhere.
Face data
AuraLens does not collect face data. It performs no face detection, no facial landmark detection and no face recognition, and it creates no faceprint, face template or any other biometric identifier. It cannot identify anyone and does not try to.
The only vision processing in the app is on-device selfie segmentation (Google ML Kit), which produces a person-versus-background outline - a per-pixel "is this part of a person" mask that contains no facial features and no identity information. The app uses that outline for one purpose: to know where you are in the frame so the aura can be drawn behind you. The mask exists in memory only while the picture is being rendered, and is discarded with the frame. The temporary photo is deleted immediately after processing.
No face data, image data or derived data is transmitted, shared with third parties, sold, or retained. The app contains no analytics, no advertising and no server of its own.
What the app stores on your device
Your preferences (chosen scene, sound, aura intensity, toggles), your onboarding status, and which purchases you own. Aura keepsake videos you choose to save are written to your own gallery (Movies/AuraLens). All of this lives only on your device. We cannot see any of it.
What the app does NOT do
- No accounts or sign-in
- No analytics or tracking
- No advertising
- No transmission of your data to us or anyone else — the aura experience works fully offline
- No access to contacts, location, or your existing files and photos
Permissions the app requests, and why
- Camera — to show the live viewfinder and capture your aura portrait. Processing is entirely on-device; if you decline, the app still works with its scene backdrops instead.
The app also reads your device's motion, magnetometer, and pressure sensors on-device to shape the aura. These readings are used in the moment, shown to you honestly in the reading, and never stored long-term or transmitted.
Purchases
Optional scene and soundscape purchases are processed by Google Play. All payment details are handled by Google under its own privacy policy — the app never sees or stores your payment information. The app only remembers, on your device, which items are unlocked.
Sharing
If you choose to share an aura video, the app hands the file to Android's standard share sheet and the app you pick. Nothing is shared unless you tap Share.
Data deletion
Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all of its data. Keepsake videos you saved to your gallery remain yours, in your gallery, until you delete them.
Children
The app does not collect data from anyone, including children.
A note on readings
Aura readings are a creative visualization built from your device's real sensor readings — for reflection and fun, not medical, health, or scientific advice.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this same address with a new effective date.
