Privacy Policy — Bayou Finder

Bayou Finder does not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. Everything the app needs stays on your device.
How the microphone is used
Bayou Finder listens for your clap so it can make your phone shout back. To do that it opens the microphone while it is armed and checks the incoming sound for the loudness and rhythm of a clap. This analysis happens entirely on your device, in real time.
- Audio is never recorded — no audio file is ever created.
- Audio is never saved to storage.
- Audio is never transmitted to us or anyone else — the app works fully offline.
- Only the timing of claps is briefly held in memory to match your pattern, and it is discarded immediately.
The microphone is only active while you have armed the finder. You can stop it at any time from the app or the notification, and Android shows its microphone indicator whenever it is in use.
What the app stores
Your clap pattern, chosen voice, sensitivity and other settings, and which optional sound packs you have unlocked. This is saved only on your device, in the app's private storage. It never leaves your phone. We cannot see it, and neither can anyone else.
What the app does NOT do
- No accounts or sign-in
- No analytics or tracking
- No advertising
- No recording, and no transmission of any audio or data — the app works fully offline
- No access to contacts, location, camera, or your files
Purchases
Bayou Finder is free to download. Optional sound packs, the all-packs bundle, and the optional Bayou Finder Plus subscription are purchased through Google Play. All payment details are handled by Google under its own privacy policy — the app never sees or stores your payment information. The app only remembers, on your device, which items you own.
Permissions the app requests, and why
- Microphone — to hear your clap while the finder is armed, as described above. Nothing is recorded.
- Notifications & foreground service — to keep listening (and to shout) even when the screen is off or the app is closed, and to show the persistent "listening" and "STOP" controls.
- Wake & full-screen alert — to wake the screen and show a large STOP screen over the lock screen when your phone is found, so you can silence it quickly.
Optional external links
The app may contain optional links — such as "Share App," "Leave a Review," and this policy — that open your web browser or another app. Following them is entirely optional, and those destinations have their own privacy policies.
Data deletion
Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all of its data. You can also clear your settings at any time from within the app.
Children
The app does not collect data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this same address with a new effective date.
